Population growth, distribution and density

Hi guys, as we are finishing with this topic, here's some study tips for you:

1. Calculations - Ensure that you know the formulaes to calculate:
- Population density = Population / land area (units = people per km square)
- Natural increase or decrease
- Number of dependents/working population/ elderly = count the total number of people in the age range (include both male and female)

2. Population distribution
- Factors that affects population distribution eg physical/ human/ economic factors

3. Causes to high and low population growth

4. Consequences
- high growth = overpopulation/shortage of resources etc
- low growth = ageing population/ lack of workforce

5. Solution
- China's one child policy
- Singapore's baby bonus/ Singapore attracting more foreigners

6. Population pyramid
- Able to describe the general shape and characteristics
- Describe the proportion of people in young / working/ elderly population
